ICUBackup.com
The ICU Backup project presented us with the task of devising a piece of software that would safely backup files from a PC to a secure data centre.

Concept Design
We worked with the client to build a list of features that would be marketable. We looked at who the software was intended for and prioritised the features so we could get the most essential ones that would generate the client sales into the first ship of the software.
Technical Documentation
Due to the complexity of this project we created detailed documentation. We used UML diagrams and Functional and Technical specifications to create an accurate blueprint of the software. With the software documentation we created a prototype application so we could show the client what the software would look like on competition. We also created network diagrams for the data centre and sourced the hardware needed to run the system.
This level of detailed planning ensured the project ran smoothly and we could work out many issues with the client before we started programming.
Website Design
We designed a layout for the website. The client gave us several heading which we then went away and developed copy for. These designs and text were then used when we created the front end.
Data Centre Installation
Our engineers went to the data centre and installed the purchased hardware into the rack. All hardware was tested and configured so we could provide remote support at any time.
Software Development
During the development phase we split the team up to deal with the various different aspects of the project. Daily reports were sent to client advising on progress. When we had releases available we tested them then sent to client for approval. Any change requests were easily noted by use of secure intranet that we make available to our clients.
When software was ready we stress tested all aspects of the system to ensure it would withstand the volume of traffic required and made many performance adjustments.
Support
We installed a ticket system and made our developers available to the clients first line support team to answer any questions that were beyond their expertise. We developed several smaller apps to run in the back end administration system to help the support technicians with frequent tasks.
Marketing
Taking the clients budget into consideration we launched with a PPC campaign and developed a good affiliate referral system to maximise the amount of revenue from the site. As the site grows in users we are steadily growing the marketing campaign in line with the clients wishes and staffing capabilities.
